DM Change Log -- 8/3/23
Danse Macabre has a minor update, bringing it to Play Test v.1.1!
Rules & Mechanics:
• Armour now grants between 1d2-3d6 DEF, to be rolled upon receiving damage. Helms and shields add positive modifiers to the dice roll. This allows players to potentially score damage against opponents in combat even if the player is lightly armed and the target is heavily ar- mored.
• Added to ‘Armour and Defense Score’ in ‘The Supplicant’ section —
“Particularly heavy or bulky armours, helms and shields have a nega- tive modifier to the Supplicant’s FIN and / or INS. These penalties affect the Supplicant’s maximum attribute scores when equipped.
The Supplicant’s maximum score for any Attribute can never be any lower than 1, even if penalties from armour, helms, or shields would put otherwise put the Attribute’s max total in the negative.”
Lore & Worldbuilding
• Changed ‘Brotherhood of the Deathless Lamb’ to ‘Order of the Deathless Lamb’ in order to emulate historical mendicant orders such as the Franciscans and Dominicans. ‘Brothers’ of the order are now called ‘Friars.’
While members within these orders may have, and still do, use the term ‘brother’ to address one another, there is a meaningful difference between a ‘Brother,’ typically an unordained layperson, and a ‘Priest’ who has been ordained. Both are usually referred to as ‘Friar’ (from the Latin ‘frater,’ meaning ‘brother’) within most mendicant orders.
